Asian Waldorf Doll “Olivia” and Her First Dress Finished Object Fridays #8

handmade fabric doll

Yeah!  I finished my first ever Waldorf Doll!  She has been named “Olivia” by my sweet pea who has seen and enjoyed the process of sewing her.  She’s super excited that I’m going to make her a dress out of this same fabric for her birthday so she and Olivia can match!  I’m thinking of a cute peasant style dress…we’ll see…

I had to improvise on the eyes for Olivia since I wanted them to look Asian without feeling like a characture.  I settled on what you see which just gave a slight point at the outside edges.  I also altered the traditional hair to crochet a wig cap out of mohair yarn but then made the dolls hair out of a silk/bamboo yarn that feels almost exactly like my little one’s silky hair.

Congrats to Stichinggirl who won my heart pencil topper give away!  I’ll be contacting you in the next day or two to get your address!

I can’t wait to make some more clothes for little Olivia – sewn and crocheted. Any suggestions?

Linking up today with Frontier Dreams and Natural Suburbia to share and enjoy one another’s crafty projects!  I love being inspired by other crafty folks!
