These finger puppets were just begging to be made this week! I pushed myself hard and got 3 finished, the pattern written, and photos taken – woo hoo! Tester say they are winners! My daughter made me promise I’m not selling these 3 but am keeping them for her to play with! You can find the crochet pattern here in my Cuddle Bug Kids Etsy Shop!
A few weeks ago I experimented with couching a thread onto denim to make a thumb fidget. That experiment got me thinking about different ways to play with texture using a sewing machine versus crochet. So I tried an experiment of dropping my feed dogs on the machine and just freehanding an R2D2. We eat, sleep, and breath Star Wars around here so I’ve seen him lots!
I don’t have an embroidery machine but I was reminded that the machines use an embroidery hoop to hold the fabric tightly. So I used an embroidery hoop to hold a piece of denim and then just moved the hoop around to embroider! It’s far from perfect but I was curious to see how much detail I could get with a small picture. This R2 is only 2″ tall so I was pretty pleased with how much detail I was able to get! Looking forward to lots more experimenting!
